Board of Directors: Our board is a hands-on working board committed to reaching teens in the juvenile justice system through weekly Bible studies and chaplain groups. They carry forward the mission of our founder, Roger Koskinen, using their gifts and experience to ensure the ministry continues to serve youth with consistency, integrity, and hope.

Tim Anderson

Executive Director

Tim accepted the call to become the Executive Director of Arise Ministries in July 2025. He has spent his entire adult life in full time church and church related ministry in the Twin Cities metro area.

Tim grew up in his family’s commercial fishing business in Grand Marais, Minnesota, and became a serious musician early in life. He believed the Gospel and put his trust in Jesus at a young age, and that commitment became the central driving force shaping his path. It led him to pursue both music and biblical studies, eventually graduating from Moody Bible Institute.

Throughout his life and ministry, Tim has been increasingly drawn toward those who are marginalized, forgotten, invisible, and most vulnerable. This calling has taken him into extensive work with people experiencing homelessness, adults in the justice system, and now juveniles in the juvenile justice system. His desire is for people to see and understand the hope found in Jesus and for the most vulnerable to experience hope, forgiveness, reconciliation, restoration, and freedom.
Tim’s beloved wife, Tammy, with whom he shared life and ministry, passed away in December 2023. They have two adult children and several grandchildren.

It is a blessing to serve on the Arise Board and uphold the vision Roger Koskenin began. I had the privilege of working alongside Roger for 15 years, and after his sudden passing, I felt called-along with others-to continue the work he devoted his life to. I joined the board in March 2026, committed to bringing hope and guidance to at risk teens in the juvenile correction system.

This ministry has become deeply important to me. Over the years, I’ve met and prayed with young men and women who are confused, angry, lost, and searching for direction. Meeting them where they are-without judgment, but with love, encouragement, and a listening ear-has fueled my passion to carry on this work. Training and supporting others who want to join this mission motivates me even more.

I’ve always desired to grow in the Lord and surrender my will to His. I never expected that it would lead me into juvenile corrections, but the Lord opened doors one step at a time. When my five sons grew up and left home, I realized that just when I finally figured out how to raise boys, they were gone. It occurred to me that I could use all that hard earned experience-and years of public speaking-to help struggling youth. And so, it all began.

Kara Schroeder

Administrative & Ministry Assistant

I am the administrative and ministry assistant for Arise Ministries Inc. After spending ten years teaching in St. Paul and several years at home raising my children, I now divide my time between Arise and children’s ministry at my church. My heart for this ministry comes from my own experiences. Having faced trauma as a child and teenager, I understand how challenging the world can be. I am deeply grateful for those who pointed me to Jesus early in my life. Thanks to God’s faithfulness, I have overcome those struggles, and I have found purpose in serving Him and helping others discover the love and transformative grace of Jesus.

Dan Munson

Board Chair

I joined the Arise Board at the invitation of founder Roger Koskinen, a longtime friend. My years in pastoral ministry and counseling with at‑risk youth and families made Arise a natural extension of my calling. I trusted Christ at a young age, and my faith has grown into a desire to live out the gospel through grace, compassion, and service. For 50 years, I’ve served in pastoral ministry, counseling, and mentoring, helping people discover their identity in Christ and find hope, healing, and purpose in Him. My passion is to ensure that youth in the juvenile justice system experience that same hope and encouragement.

Carol Koskinen

Clerk of the Board

My husband, Roger, founded Arise Ministries in 2008 and served as its President until the Lord called him Home in February 2025. The Board invited me to join soon after to help carry forward the work he faithfully did in the juvenile justice system. My love for Jesus and His command to share the Gospel has shaped my life for as long as I can remember, and obedience to Him continues to guide me. I’m a retired Registered Nurse with 43 years in adult Intensive Care, and Roger and I were blessed with 30 years of marriage. Even in this difficult season, I trust in God’s sovereignty and have seen His faithfulness every step of the way.

Bryon Krueger

Treasurer

I joined the Arise Board in July 2022. My wife, Mary, and I attended the same church as Roger and Carol, and we supported Arise for years — including buying many Christmas trees from Roger. We spent a long time serving as youth leaders, and one of our students was incarcerated and ministered to through Arise. Seeing how God used that experience in his life is a big part of why I care so deeply about this work. Hearing how forgotten many of these youth feel, especially around the holidays, breaks my heart, and I want them to know the hope and redemption found in Christ. I came to faith at a young age and continue to grow in grace, learning from my own failures. Mary and I have two adult children, Joshua and Brianna.

Jim Chamberlin

Roger asked me to join the board over 15 years ago. My faith journey began when I was about six years old, and like everyone, I’ve had my share of twists and turns, but I know the Lord has been with me through all of it. What drives me now is the conviction that only Jesus can truly save these kids who have found themselves in really tough situations. I’m retired these days, with twelve adopted kids, and I substitute teach at the elementary school near my home.

I was one of the original three people Roger asked to help start Arise Ministries, and I’ve served on the board since it began. Roger and I first met playing basketball at Anoka Ramsey Community College, and later I spent a week as a camp counselor when he was with Youth for Christ. I also played basketball with him in the juvenile center, and his commitment to the work he was doing drew me to help with Arise Ministries; over the years he became my best friend. My passion for youth in the juvenile justice system comes from wanting to reach those who are hurting, forgotten, or lost, and to share the good news of hope in the gospel. As for my faith journey, I grew up in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and Roger helped point me in the right direction. While at St. Cloud State, I met my wife and began attending church and Bible studies regularly. It’s been an honor to serve on the board from the beginning and continue the work we started.
